Moroccan Qari Comes 1st in Bahrain Int’l Quran Contest

IQNA – The 4th edition of Bahrain’s international Quran competition concluded on Wednesday night.

Winners of the Quranic event were named and awarded at the closing ceremony, media news reported.

El-Yas Hajri from Morocco won the top prize in the main category, featuring Quran recitation and memorization.  

His fellow countryman Yaseen al-Kazini came second.

In Tajweed recitation, Muhammad Sameer Mujahid from the host country bagged the top prize.

And in the category of Quran recitation for children, Ahmed Muhammad Salih Ahmed from Yemen came first.

The competition was held virtually in the first stage and the winners competed in person in the final round.

More than 5,000 Quran reciters and memorizers from 74 countries competed in the first stage.

The competition is aimed at serving the Holy Quran and encouraging people to memorize and recite the Holy Book, according to the organizers.
