The country’s Awqaf ministry announced that more than 200 qaris and preachers will be dispatched to countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Australia.
It said the number of those sent to each country will be based on the host country’s request, Youm7 website reported.
According to the ministry, 23 qaris and prayer leaders will go to Germany, 23 to Brazil, 16 to the United States, 11 to Tanzania, 11 to Venezuela, 10 to Canada, 7 to Australia, 6 to Britain, and 7 to the United Arab Emirates, among others.
The qaris will recite the Holy Book in Quranic circles in the host countries while the preachers will lead prayers at mosques and religious gatherings during Ramadan.
Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 12 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.
