Palestinians Determined to Defend Their Land: Former Islamic Jihad Official
Speaking in an interview with IQNA, Omar Abdullah Shallah referred to the situation in the Gaza Strip and occupied territories after the October 7 Al-Aqsa Flood Operation and said the region has changed fundamentally since the surprise operation was carried out by the Hamas resistance movement.
He said the operation shattered the fake image of the Israeli regime’s invincibility and now those governments that have normalized ties with the Zionists or are mulling to do it have to reconsider their decision and stand with their own people who support Palestine.
Reiterating that the people of Palestine will not accept anther displacement and will fight to defend their land, Shallah said that despite all the atrocities in the Gaza Strip and the destruction of homes and infrastructures in the coastal enclave, no one is talking about leaving Gaza,
The Palestinian resistance has been in confrontation with the occupiers for nearly 100 years, he said, adding that since the 1967 war, the Zionist regime has achieved no victory but has been defeated in all wars and confrontations.
With the grace of God, no matter how many countries come to support the Israeli regime in its attempts to uproot the Palestinian resistance, they will not be able to do so, he said.
Citing Verse 10 of Surah Al-Ahzab, “They came on you from above and from below, and when your eyes swerved and your hearts leapt to your throats, and you thought thoughts about Allah,” he said when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) started inviting people to Islam, all groups began opposing and confronting him but God safeguarded the religion and brought victory to it.
Today, too, God will save the Palestinian resistance against the Zionists and their supporters, he stated.

Shallal said the issue of Palestine is the number one issue in the Muslim and Arab world and although the stances of some governments in the region has been shameful silence on the Israeli atrocities, the people of the region support Palestine.
He warned that if regional countries fail to align their stance with the will of their people, which is supporting Palestine, they will be in loss.
Shallal urged the people of the region to continue to exert pressure on their rulers to strive for an end to the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian nation.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the former Islamic Jihad official hailed the support for Palestine from resistance movements in other countries, including Yemen, Iraq, and especially Lebanon’s Hezbollah, saying it shows that the axis of resistance is alive and will not abandon Palestine.

The Israeli regime and its supporters in the region and beyond have recognized now that the people of Gaza and Palestine are not alone, he went on to say.
As Israel’s genocidal air attacks on the Gaza Strip continue, the death toll has exceeded 9,200, including 3,826 children and more than 2,405 women. At least 23,516 people have been wounded in the attacks.
The regime launched the war on October 7 after Gaza’s resistance groups conducted Operation al-Aqsa Flood, their biggest operation against the occupying entity in years.
