CANBERRA (IQNA) – The war between the Israeli regime and Palestinian resistance in Gaza has sparked a wave of anti-Muslim hate crimes across Australia, according to a Melbourne Palestine rally organizer.

Noura Mansour said that Islamophobia has "increased fourfold" in the last week, based on the reports from the Islamophobia Register.

Mansour said that many Muslims have faced verbal abuse and Islamophobic slurs from people who support the Israeli regime or blame Palestinians for the violence.

She said that the Palestinian cause stands for justice, freedom, and equality for all and that the protesters are demanding an end to the Israeli occupation and aggression.

The conflict in the West Asia region has escalated since last weekend when Hamas launched a surprise attack on occupying power with rockets and commandos.

The regime responded with airstrikes and shelling on Gaza, killing more than 2,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children. More than 1,300 Israelis have also been killed during the Hamas offensive which they said was a response to the repeated desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque and increased Israeli violence against Palestinians in recent months.

Millions of Muslims took to the streets in various countries on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to voice their solidarity with Palestinian people who have been oppressed by the regime for the past seven decades amid unwavering support for the occupying Israeli regime by Western powers.
