External Powers Exploiting Muslim World for Own Interests: Indonesian Prof.

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Indonesian professor says one of the challenges ahead of realizing Muslim unity is that some powers are exploiting the Muslim nations.

 

"Another problem is that there are many powers outside the Islamic world who want to exploit Muslims and seek their own interests," Syafiq A. Mughni, Professor of Islamic Civilization at National Islamic University in Indonesia’s Surabaya told IQNA on the sidelines of the 36th International Conference of Islamic Unity in Tehran.

He touched upon issues related to Muslim unity as well as Palestine in the interview.

"I am very happy to be able to participate in the unity conference. This is a very important conference," he siad.

"We have many challenges in the Islamic world, the most important of which is the division between Muslims. We must be united because of Islamic values. We know that Islam is not a religion  for the wellbeing of Muslims only and it is for all humankind," he added

Syafiq considered the division as the main problem facing Muslim world. "The second problem of Muslims around the world is the lack of education and lack of unanimity in teaching Islamic principles," he said.

He went on to say "Another problem is that there are many powers outside the Islamic world who want to exploit Muslims and seek their own interests."
