TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Turkish Muslim scholar points to the need for establishing unity among all Muslims for foiling the Islamophobia campaigns in the West.

Kadir Akaras, head of the Union of Turkish Shia Scholars, made the remarks on Tuesday while virtually addressing the 36th International Unity Conference in Tehran.

Efforts are underway in Western countries to introduce Islam as a violent pro-terrorism religion, he said, noting that enemies have started this plot since years ago.

“It is necessary for us to foil this heinous plot,” he stressed, adding, “Islam should be truly introduced to the world based on real values of the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet and true aspects of Islam.”

Pointing out that the East has been introduced as a war zone, he added “The international Zionism and imperialism have declared the Middle East and North Africa as a war zone. For them Muslims shall always fight each other, Sunni with Sunni, Sunni with Shia, Shia with Shia so that this region will always be in turmoil.”

He also pointed to the Palestinian issue, saying, “The Holy Quds is still under occupation. Imperialists and Zionists have taken the Holy Quds as hostage and this wound is like a dagger stabbing into the hearts of all Muslim nations.”

“In order to deal with all these problems, we are in pressing need of, first, the real Islam and second, the Holy Prophet’s Sunnah,” Akaras noted.

“Today, the unity is obligatory for Islamic Ummah. Unity is realized through mutual understanding among Muslims”, he said.

“This will bring peace to the Middle East and will put an end to the heinous move of Islamophobia and will be a prelude of a project that will lead to the liberation of Palestine on a gradual basis.”

The 36th edition of International Islamic Unity Conference started on October 9. The official opening ceremony will be held on Wednesday morning. According to the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, organizer of the event, some 300 scholars from Iran and 60 countries address the event in person or virtually. The conference will wrap up on Friday, October 14.
