TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of the 11th edition of the Holy Quran Memorization Competition for children in Qatar were awarded in a ceremony.

Winners of Quran competition in Qatar

The competition was organized by the Katara Cultural Village Foundation earlier this month with the participation of 35 children ranging from ages 10 to 15.

Twenty of the children were male while 15 were female.

The Katara Mosque hosted the contest for boys and the Golden Mosque hosted the competition for girls.

The parents of the contenders hailed the foundation for holding the Quranic event, saying it encourages children to read and memorize the Book of God.

The Katara Cultural Village Foundation has been doing the Holy Quran Memorization Competition annually every holy month of Ramadan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. It is aimed to link children and young people to the Quran through memorizing, studying, reciting its verses, contemplating its meanings and working on its provisions.

It also introduces children to the values, virtues, morals and behaviors derived from Islam.
