The ministry said in a statement that contenders are required to be citizens of Mauritania and have the experience of Quran calligraphy, Al-Akhbar website reported.
They should also have mastery over the rules of Arabic calligraphy, especially Maghrebi Calligraphy.
Those willing to take part in the competition have been asked to send copies of their calligraphy of several Surahs (chapters) of the Quran to the ministry.
The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in the Maghreb region of western North Africa.
The country’s population is estimated to be about 4 million and virtually all Mauritanians are Muslims.
Quranic activities and programs are very popular in the African country.
