TEHRAN (IQNA) – Secretary General of the Ahl-ul-Bayt World Assembly Ayatollah Reza Ramezani underlined the need for using the great potential of the annual Arbaeen march.

In a meeting with the secretary general of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan, Ayatollah Ramezani said the capacities of the Arbaeen march should be tapped to promote the resistance front and confronting the world arrogance.

Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

Ayatollah Ramezani further hailed the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan’s efforts to enhance Islamic unity.

MWM chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas elaborated on the activities of the MWM and said one of its objectives is to boost unity among Shia and Sunni Muslims in the country.

The Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen also helps the oppressed, whether they are Shia or Sunni or even Sikh, he went on to say.
