Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran said spirituality is the foundation of the Iranian nation’s power.

Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani made the remark while addressing Friday prayers worshipers at Tehran University Campus on November 29.

“The US secretary of state and the Zionist regime’s prime minister claimed that Iran went to talks (with world powers over the nuclear issue) because of (the effects of) sanctions, whereas it is spirituality, not materialistic issues, that forms the basis of Iran’s power as Islam gives precedence to thought, spirit and spirituality.”

Referring to the Geneva agreement between Iran and the G 5+1 (5 permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany), Ayatollah Emami-Kashani underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran, since its establishment, has always proven to be backing the oppressed and that it never seeks bloodshed and insecurity.

The senior cleric stressed that it is the Zionist regime, which spreads propaganda against Iran, is the one that the world nations despise.

He underscored that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek nuclear weapons and hailed the Geneva agreement which recognizes Iran’s legitimate right to nuclear enrichment for peaceful purposes.

He referred to the agreement as a heroic flexibility on the part of Iran but stressed that Iran will not retreat from its principles and inalienable rights.

In his first sermon, Ayatollah Emami-Kashani pointed to the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Sajjad (AS) and elaborated on the virtues of the 4th Imam (AS) and the concept of Velayat.
