Sheikh Qassim Underlines Bahraini Nation’s Steadfastness

Top Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim reacted to the recent execution of two Bahraini youths in Saudi Arabia, saying such moves could not undermine the Bahraini nation’s resolve.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Sheikh Qassim said the Bahraini nation has proved its steadfastness and resolve both in words and deeds, the Bahrain Mirror website reported.

He said the people of Bahrain have reiterated that they will only kneel before God and they have proven this in action.

The cleric added that the power of the nation lies not in numbers but in the determination not to give up and in the spirit of self-sacrifice.

Saudi Arabia on Monday announced the execution of two Bahrainis named Jaafar Muhammad Sultan and Sadiq Majeed Thamer.

This brought the total number of executions in the kingdom to nine this month.

The two were charged with “joining a terrorist cell aimed at destabilizing the security” of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, a Saudi interior ministry statement said.

It claimed that the two had been trained to create chaos and carry out acts of sabotage in the kingdom.
