Kul Sharif Mosque

In a ceremony on Wednesday at Kul Sharif Mosque, the plan kicked off with writing down Surah Al-Fatiha with Arabic calligraphy, according to Azertac. A host of local officials and religious authorities participated in the event.

At the end of the event, a manuscript of the entire Quran will be produced and several copies of that will also be printed.

The plan is also seen as a step to revive the art of calligraphy in Russia.

Such manuscripts have already been built in different countries including Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Pakistan.

The project will be implemented by Artur Pisarenko, a renowned calligrapher from Kazan.

Various events have been planned to mark the 1100th anniversary of Islam in the region.
