Islamic Broadcasting Union to Open Office in Palestine

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) is set to open an office in Palestine while supporting production of works about the Palestinian cause.

 

Amr Mamdouh El-Leithy, Director-General of the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), revealed the news while speaking in a TV program on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, AlmasryAlyoum.com reported.

The Union will produce programs that will broadcast on 57 Arab and Islamic stations, he said.

He noted that the IBU was established back in 1975 mainly to support the Palestinian people and is now one of the biggest media unions in the world with 57 members.

Palestine is a permanent member of the executive council of the union, he said, stressing the role of the Arab and Islamic media to explain the importance of the Palestinian cause to the new generations.

According to its website, the IBU aims to propagate the principles of the Islamic Da'wa; acquaint people with the cause of Islam and ensure its defence; strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among the Muslim people; explain the political, social and economic basis of Islamic solidarity; develop cooperation between Islamic technical organizations and institutions of Member States engaged in the field of radio and television; promote teaching of the Arabic language using audiovisual aids.
