TEHRAN (IQNA) – Bahrain’s main opposition group, the al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, denounced a terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed tens of civilians, mostly school students on Saturday.

Al-Wefaq in a statement strongly condemned the attack and expressed sympathy with the Afghan government and people, especially families of the victims.

It also prayed for speedy recovery for those injured in the attack.

The statement said such heinous crimes are condemned in religious, ethical and human terms, adding that they originate from enmities with Islam and Muslims.

The Bahraini group said such acts of terrorism are sponsored by a large system that support Takfiri ideology.

Al-Wefaq further wished security, stability and peace for Afghanistan and all other Muslim countries.

According to some reports, at least 85 people, mostly schoolgirls, lost their lives in explosions caused by a car bomb and mortar shells targeting a school in the Shia majority neighborhood of Dasht-e-Barchi in western Kabul on Saturday.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said the Taliban militant group was responsible. The Taliban, however, did not claim responsibility for the blast. According to some media reports, the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack hours later.
