Egypt Gifts Quran Copies, Translations to Indonesia

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Ministry of of Awqaf (Endowments) gifted 200 copies of the Holy Quran to Indonesia.

 

The copies were given to the Indonesian embassy in Cairo on Sunday, Masrawy website reported.

They will be distributed among universities, schools and religious centers in the Southeast Asian country.

The ministry also gifted translations of the Quran in the Indonesian labguage to 75 Indonesian students applying for scholarships to study at Al-Azhar University.

Last year, the Awqaf Ministry of Egypt, in cooperation with Al-Azhar’s Supreme Islamic Affairs Council, published Quran translations in 10 languages, including English, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Indonesian and Korean.

It said the move is aimed at helping non-Arab speakers to benefit from the teachings and concepts of the Quran.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 96 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities are very common in the Arab country.
