Monday A National Day of Mourning in Iran for Martyrs of Terror Attack
In a statement on Sunday, the government expressed condolences to the people of Ahvaz and Khuzestan province, especially the families of the martyrs, and said Iranians will observe Monday as a national day of mourning.
It added that the funeral for the martyrs will be held in Ahvaz on the same day.
The statement further underlined the Iranian nation’s resolve to give a crushing response to those who plotted the terrorist attack.
During a military parade in Ahvaz, which was staged concurrently with nationwide military parades on Saturday to mark the Sacred Defense Week, Takfiri militants wearing disguise opened fire at the people participating in the ceremony.
The political deputy governor of Khuzestan Province, Ali Hossein Hosseinzadeh, put the latest death toll from the attack at 25, saying 60 others have been injured.
According to media reports, the Al-Ahvaziya terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
