TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) will organize the fourth edition of Arbaeen International Award in three categories of photos, videos and travelogue.

According to ICRO’s website, the theme of the works submitted to the contest include Arbaeen march to the holy city of Karbala, and respect and love for Imam Hussein (AS).

Those willing to attend the competition in the photo category should upload a maximum of 5 photos on www.intlarbaeen.com.

The videos sent for the competition should be a documentary or short story in HDV, HD, DVCAM or Full HD formats.

Various events in Arbaeen march, Arbaeen pilgrimage and mourning rituals in groups of pilgrims from different countries, the influence of the pilgrimage on the personal life of the pilgrims and their viewpoints about the trip are the categories for writing travelogues.

They should be written in maximum 10 pages in Persian, Arabic, English, Urdu, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Russian, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, French, German or Spanish.

The works should be sent to the secretariat of the competition by December 31.

Winners will be awarded in March 2018.

ICRO annually holds the international competition to highlight different aspects of the Arbaeen pilgrimage which marks the anniversary of the 40th day after the 680AD martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his household in Karbala.

Every year a large number of pilgrims converge on the holy city of Karbala in Iraq to observe mourning rituals on Arbaeen.

In the past few years, the number was estimated to be more than 20 million.
